Lila Teunissen is a part owner of Bed 'n' Biscuit Ranch and is a Bismarck native. Lila has had a passion for animals from an early age. She constantly brought home orphaned and injured cats, birds, and dogs. Her family encouraged her love for animals and she grew up with a dog, two cats, several parakeets, fish, hamsters, hermit crabs, and several fresh water aquariums.
Lila joined the Army right after graduating high school and got her animal fix by pet sitting for friends as often as possible. A good friend, Jen, really got her thinking about dog training and boarding when she introduced Lila to her well-trained and gregarious Jack Russel Terrier. Over the years she has owned five dogs and has been wanting to open a training facility. She felt her dream could become a reality when she met Michelle Thomsen, who was of a similar mindset.
They both volunteer with the Central Dakota Humane Society and Furry Friends Rockin Rescue and are passionate about their own fur babies. After many discussions and soul searching, they found a great property and have launched their new venture: Bed N Biscuit Ranch.

Prior to having human children, Michelle would say that there were two things that tore at her heart strings, dogs and soldiers.
Michelle joined the North Dakota Army National Guard when she was seventeen and left the Bismarck area for military duties and pursuit of higher education. After two overseas deployments and multiple military schools, Michelle graduated from the University of North Dakota with her Juris Doctorate and moved back to Bismarck. Michelle’s significant other Richard had a beautiful boxer mix, Dempsey who stole Michelle’s heart. They later added a boxer named Goose to their family.
It was through Michelle’s military service that she met now business partner, Lila Teunissen. They were both involved with Team Red, White, and Blue and through conversations at events, quickly realized that they both loved animals. Through many conversations they realized there needed to be more options for dog boarding in the Bismarck area, and the idea of Bed n’ Biscuit Ranch commenced.
Michelle and Richard now have two human children, Isabelle and Sullivan. In her free time Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors or brainstorming ways to help support local animal rescues.
